The Wallowa girls track team came away with a first place finish on Saturday at the Condon Invitational in Condon. The Coug girls finished up the afternoon with 101.2 points in the victory, 11 points ahead of second place Sherman County in the 14 team field.

Freshman distance phenom Hayley Oveson continued her domination in the 1500 and 3000 meter events. Oveson captured the 1500 meters in 5.07.48 and the 3000 meters in 11.27.11 a full 15 and 27 seconds respectively ahead of second place finisher Adi Robertson from Trout Lake.

Cousin Lynique Oveson posted a first place finish in the 800 meters, breaking the tape in 2.31.07. Oveson also had a second place finish in the javelin, throwing the spike 119' 2".

Sarah Bomberger ended the afternoon with a second and third place finish in the discus and shot put. The Wallowa senior had a toss of 106' 6 1/2" in the discus while tossing the steel orb 30' 8 1/2".

Amber Josi grabbed a second place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.81 behind Diana McElligott from Ione. Senior Amanda Wilson finished the invitational with third place finishes in the in the high jump with a leap of 5'2" and the 400 meters with a time of 1.03.01.

The Wallowa girls relay team also finished in third with a time of 54.00 in the 400 meter relay and a 4.43.93 in the 1600 meter relay event.

The Wallowa boys squad finished the afternoon in fifth place with 43 points. Goldendale , WA won the invitational with 87 points out of the 15 team field.

Jake Redfield and Nick Johnson won their respective events for the Orange and Black. Redfield posted first place finishes in the long jump with a leap of 18' 4 3/4 " and vertically in the high jump, leaping over the bar at 6' 0". Johnson paced his way to a first place victory in the 800 meters with a winning time of 2.09.93.
