A well-balanced offensive attack and tough defense gave the Imbler Panthers a 36-6 win over the Joseph Eagles Friday night.

A defensive battle forced a stalemate throughout most of the first quarter until Imbler got their passing game going. Panther quarterback Trevor Crow connected with Travis Hoskins on a 35 yard pass play setting up first and goal on the Joseph one foot line.

Justin Volle dove into the end zone for the score with 5:57 remaining in the first quarter.

Joseph defender Tristan Gorsline blocked the extra point giving Imbler a 6-0 lead.

The Panthers threatened midway through the second quarter but a big defensive stand by the Eagles stopped the Imbler drive on fourth and goal on the JHS one foot line.

The Eagles took over on downs but lost the battle as running back Dusty Witherrite was tackled in the end zone for a safety upping Imbler's lead to 8-0 with 7:43 remaining in the first half.

Crow hit Tanner McIntosh with a 22 yard strike with 4:30 remaining in the half to put the Panthers out in front 14-0. Imbler went for the conversion on a pitch to Volle around the left side of the line giving them a 16-0 lead.

Crow's arm was just getting warmed up as he connected on a 20 yard TD pass to McIntosh. Volle once again took the ball around the outside of the line for the conversion putting Imbler in charge at 24-0 with two minutes remaining in the half.

Joseph attempted to move the ball but a Kyle Hook pass was picked off by Imbler defender Craig Wyatt to give the Panthers one more shot at the end zone before the half.

Crow rolled out of the pocket to find Zach Meyers in the end zone for the score with 15 seconds remaining in the first half. The conversion failed sending the teams to the locker room with Imbler leading 30-0.

The third quarter didn't fare any better for the Eagles as a Hook pass was picked off by Steven Skillings and returned 30 yard for the score with 11:12 remaining. The point after try was blocked by Eric Butterfield putting Imbler up 36-0.

The only successful offensive play for the Eagles came late in the fourth quarter on a 85 yard TD pass play from Hook to Cole Lathrop preventing the shutout with 2:45 remaining in the game.

Crow passed for 193 yard in the contest including three touchdowns.
