The Oregon State University Extension Service 4-H Shooting Sports training team is seeking new adult members to provide leadership for training adult volunteers in five shooting sports disciplines. There are currently three shooting sports disciplines available to 4-H youth in Oregon: archery, rifle and shotgun. Two disciplines will be added in fall 2005, hunting and pistol. All disciplines emphasize firearms safety.

The State 4-H Training Team conducts a minimum of two trainings per year in different regions of Oregon for approved 4-H volunteer leaders. The National 4-H Shooting Sports Training Team provides training to Oregon state team applicants.

There is a three-year commitment to the state team, following training. The next National 4-H Shooting Sports training workshop will be in Spokane in May 2005.

If you are interested in joining this team please contact Debi Schreiber at the Extension Office for an application at 426-3143. Current 4-H volunteers and others who have experience with youth development education are preferred. Priority will be given to applications received by Dec. 1.
