Snow forced several changes to sports around the county.
In basketball, Enterprise High School postponed its Dec. 20 games at Weston-McEwen until Feb. 14. Joseph High cancelled its four-team tournament, originally set for Dec. 19 and 20, because neither Nestucca nor Country Christian risked long drives. Instead, Joseph hosted Wallowa on Dec. 19 for a full slate of games, including varsity and junior varsity for both the girls and boys. The next day, Powder Valley High drove only its boys to Joseph. On Dec. 22, all Joseph teams went as scheduled to Echo. That happened too late for this edition of the Chieftain.
Meanwhile, the Enterprise High wrestling team cancelled its Dec. 19 road trip to Elgin. Wallowa and Joseph wrestlers all drove to a tournament in Elgin, but both cancelled their trips the following day to Baker.
