Enterprise junior Michael Swart captured the boys individual title Friday afternoon at the Umatilla Invitational. Swart posted an 18:17 over the flat, meandering course six seconds ahead of Billy Garrison of Union who crossed the finish line in 18:23. Garrisons teammate Klamath Walker landed in the number three spot finishing in 18:33.
EHS runners Chris Lozier and Andy Vernarski ended the day in eighth and ninth position separated by one second at 19:13 and 19:14 respectively.
Wallowa runner Sam Both was the top finisher for the Cougar boys posting a 12th place finish with a time of 19:31.
Union's Shannon Mitchell was the top girls finisher with a time of 20:56 . Ashley Sharratt also of Union was second with a time of 21:20 and Thaila Russell of Stanfield rounded out the top three with a time of 23:12. EHS runner Julie Vernarski who finished in the number four position in 23:21. Due to a scheduling error Wallowa's girls squad did not compete.
The Union boys tallied 35 points to win the boys competition with Umatilla placing second with 36 points and Stanfield taking third with 56.
The Union girls squad also earned the number one spot on the afternoon with a score of 20 followed by Stanfield in second place with a 35.
Enterprise and Wallowa didn't have a full team present in the boys or girls meets.
