While Wallowa High School searches for a new head boys' basketball coach, athletic director Warren Wilson will take over this winter's team on an interim basis.

The position became vacant over the summer when Kyle Burnett resigned in August. Wilson stated he received one application for the opening. He will lead this season's team, before resuming the search for the 2009-10 school year.

The past five years - under three different head coaches - Wilson has assisted and focused on junior varsity boys' basketball. Previously, starting in December 1982, he coached Wallowa's varsity for three full seasons. His second season, Wallowa tied Imbler High for first place in the district and advanced to the state playoffs. Four games into his fourth season, however, he was forced to resign as he became a full-time teacher. All together, he compiled a 30-40 record.
