A hard work ethic and personal dedication paid off for Wallowa wrestling coach Jason Crenshaw's young Cougar wrestling team over the weekend as they won first place at the 1A State Championships held at Crane. "Overall, the team wrestled better than any that I have ever had at Wallowa," Crenshaw said. "Man for man we just out wrestled them,' he added.

The Cougs competed with six other 1A teams from across the state. The gathering gave WHS a chance to wrestle against schools with smaller teams verses schools at the 2A and 3A level. "It was neat to wrestle schools that are closer to the same size as ours. It makes for a more level playing field for the boys," Crenshaw said.
